After four long years, it’s finally that time again. The FIFA World Cup is undoubtedly the highlight of any football fans calendar with the best players around the world coming together to play for their country. It’s so popular, in fact, that it can turn even the most clueless of us into football fanatics, at least for a few months.
To mark the occasion and celebrate the FIFA World Cup and the beautiful game, we’ve put together some of our favourite personalised football boot designs over the years. With players wearing team or country colours in kit from approved sponsors and suppliers, football boots are one of the few ways individual players can stand out on the pitch.
Unsurprisingly, football boots with custom designs and a personalised touch have become extremely popular over the years. From bright colours to lucky numbers, here are a few of our favourite custom football boots.

In August 2010 famous football player Robbie Keane celebrated his 100th cap with some bright green custom boots. Playing for Ireland just after the FIFA World Cup 2010, the boots celebrate the Republic of Ireland in green, orange and white colouring while Robbie added his own touch with his name, the name of his son and of course his classic number 10.

Celebrating another 100th cap, this time it’s Ashley Cole showing off some custom boots from Nike. That classic bright green is instead complemented with simple black and white colouring, and Cole accompanies his initials and his team number with the St. Georges flag. On the other boot, he also had the number of caps and the football game, England vs Brazil, embroidered.

There’s no doubt Raheem Sterling certainly stood out on the pitch in these luminous pink Nikes. Like some of other players on this list Sterling added a sentimental touch to his bright boots with the name of his daughter. He also had his initials and number embroidered in a sleek RS7, not unlike the signature customisation of an even more famous player…
While we tried to cheer on England all the way, no football list is complete without Cristiano Ronaldo on it. Considered a trend setter in the sport, it’s not just his football boots that Ronaldo likes to customise. His signature CR and shirt number along with his loyalty to the Mercurial football boot by Nike for his whole career has seen the brand launch football boots in his name – literally. Here he wears The Mercurial CR7, launched in celebration of winning the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year in 2017.

It’s only fitting we finish with the most customised boots we’ve ever seen. Probably one of the most famous football players of all time, England player David Beckham was also famous for sporting Adidas Predators throughout most of his career. It was no surprise then when he headed out to play his last ever competitive game in a pair of custom Predators. Beckham went all out with his wife’s initials, all of his kid’s names, the date of the last game, the Union flag of the UK with red, white and blue colouring, and even a list of all his shirt numbers throughout his career. Now that’s a lot of a personalisation!
